Truecaller gets India MD as it joins fintech crowd

Bengaluru: Truecaller has appointed Sandeep Patil, a former Flipkart executive, as its India managing director, as the Swedish spam identification app gets ready to launch its institutional lending business in the country. Patil headed the consumer and commercial lending vertical at Flipkart until recently.

Truecaller, which has 100 million daily active users in India, has already launched a payment service that competes with the likes of Google Pay, Paytm and Amazon Pay. Facebook’s WhatsApp too is in line for a full-fledged rollout. India is Truecaller’s largest market, accounting for 60-70% of global revenue and user base.
