Transition period for new norms of laptop, tablet import to be notified soon: Dy IT minister

The deputy IT minister on Friday said that there will be a transition period for new norms relating to the import of tablets and laptops, these will be notified soon. It is also expected that the government is likely to give more time to companies to apply for licences to import laptops and other devices, extending stipulated timelines of import restrictions.

News agency PTI reported citing sources that security concern was one of the reasons behind decision to restrict import of laptops.
