Trai proposes tightening service quality rules, includes 5G for first time
New Delhi: The telecom regulator has proposed stringent performance benchmarks for telecom operators, especially related to call drops, incorporating parameters for 5G services for the first time as it looks to improve consumer experience.
In a consultation paper on review of quality of service (QoS) standards for access services (wireless and wireline) and broadband (wireless and wireline) services, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has proposed revising the benchmark of network downtime to a cell level in place of the current base station (BTS) level to have a granular view of network availability.
