TRAI issues show cause to BARC India for not publishing TV ratings online
MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a show cause notice (SCN) to television viewership measurement agency, BARC India, for failing to comply with its directive to immediately release viewership data for the past weeks on its website.
BARC India stopped publishing viewership data on its website since first week of February, when TRAI’s new tariff order for the broadcast sector came into effect that affected on-ground distribution of many TV channels.
“We have sent a show cause notice to them (BARC India) on Friday (March 29) as they have still not published viewership data on their website. We have given them one week to respond,” a TRAI executive told ET.
