Trai asks telcos to extend validity for prepaid subscribers

NEW DELHI: To ensure continuity of telecom services during the 21-day lockdown period, telecom regulator Trai has asked mobile companies to provide uninterrupted services to prepaid subscribers till the restrictions continue.
Trai has also sought details of the steps being taken by the companies to ensure availability of uninterrupted services to customers on a “priority basis”. “You are required to take necessary steps as deemed fit, including extending the validity period, to ensure that all prepaid subscribers can enjoy uninterrupted services during the period of lockdown,” Trai said in a communication sent to the operators on Sunday.
