Top panel to mull relief for telcos; Trai to consider floor pricing of tariffs

NEW DELHI: The Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba headed Committee of Secretaries will review the financial stress on the telecom sector following the Supreme Court ruling making an additional burden of Rs 1.3 crore on the sector.

“The Committee of Secretaries (CoS) is expected to meet shortly and submit their recommendations in a time-bound manner,” a Department of Telecommunications (DoT) source said and added that the Cabinet Secretary would examine all aspects and suggest measures to mitigate the financial stress being faced by the telecom industry.
