TK Paul becomes new DoT advisor, replacing Ramchand

Tushar Kanti Paul, a 1982-batch Indian Telecommunications Services (ITS) Group – A officer will be the new advisor – Technology at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), according to the official sources.

Paul will take a formal charge on May 17, 2021, following the voluntary retirement of K Ramchand.

In May, last year, Paul, working as an advisor WB LSA, was entrusted with the additional charge of director general (DG) – Telecom.

Ramchand, a 1982-batch ITS officer, however, quit the crucial advisory post with effect from May 13.

Last year, a panel headed by Ramchand, made a slew of suggestions that included using Indian core for the rollout of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) fourth generation or 4G network, a condition which was opposed by the state-run telco.
