TikTok: Will fully abide by government rules
Indian government has issued notices to social media platforms Tiktok and Helo. Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) has sent a set of 21 questions to both the app makers. The ministry has also threatened to ban them if it does not receive appropriate response.
The action follows complaint by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) to the Prime Minister, in which it alleged that the platforms are being used for anti-national activities.
The Chinese app has issued a statement on the same, where it has committed to fully coperate with the Indian government. Here’s the full statement:
“We are grateful for the immense support given to us by India’s growing digital community. India is one of our strongest markets and we are happy to be part of the mainframe of Digital India in 15 Indian languages.
