TikTok CEO pledges $2 bn during testimony to protect 170 mn US Users
TikTok will pledge to spend $2 billion this year on protecting children and other viewers on the video service, as it crosses 170 million monthly active users in the US.
Chief Executive Officer Shou Chew plans to unveil those plans during testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday, joining counterparts from Meta Platforms Inc., X, Snap and Discord at a hearing focused on examining what social media firms are doing to safeguard youths online.
TikTok’s chief intends to say the company will spend more than $2 billion this year on trust and safety globally, via a team of more than 40,000 people working on those efforts, according to prepared testimony reviewed by Bloomberg News.
