Apple is expected to launch new iPhones sometime next month and there’s already quite a buzz around them. However, before the new iPhones hit the world, an older iPhone seems to be creating quite a stir in the market. According to research firm Omdia, Apple iPhone 11 was the best selling phone across the world in the first half of 2020.
Apple, as per Omdia, sold about 37.7 million units of the iPhone 11 in the first half of this year. Interestingly, during the corresponding period last year, it was another iPhone that topped the charts. Last year, it was iPhone XR that was number 1 after Apple had sold about 26.9 million units. The numbers this year clearly indicate that the iPhone 11 has been a bigger success story than the iPhone XR. It also suggests that having a premium phone at a relatively affordable price has done wonders for Apple’s ever-growing coffers.
Such was the dominance of the iPhone 11 in the market that the next three phones combined couldn’t manage to outsell. The three best-selling phones after the iPhone 11 are Samsung Galaxy A51, Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8 pro, which sold 11.4 million, 11 million and 10.2 million units respectively. The fifth best selling phone was the iPhone SE, which managed to hit 8.7 million unit mark.
