The world’s richest man has never been this rich

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ estimated wealth grew by a whopping $13 billion in just one day. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos — the world’s richest man — saw his wealth increase as Amazon’s shares increased by close to 8%. Bezos’ estimated wealth is now $189.3 billion.
Bloomberg Billionaires Index was launched in 2012 and since then this is the biggest single-day increase for an individual.
Bezos has been having quite a year. Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Bezos and Amazon seem to have gone from strength to strength. In terms of his estimated wealth, Bezos has seen it grow by $74 billion since the turn of the year.
Bezos and Amazon are building a testing lab where Covid-19 tests could be conducted on the front line employees. In a blog post by Amazon earlier in April, the company detailed how and what it intends to do. The company said that its research scientists, program managers, procurement specialists and software engineers have moved from their normal day jobs onto a dedicated team to work on this initiative.
