The big Google Assistant push in India
For a couple of years now, Google has been pushing its Assistant to be a ubiquitous presence on Android smartphones. And the number of devices it has reached on has grown multifold. Google is serious about its Assistant in India and the biggest proof is that it is now available in nine different languages. What’s more Hindi is the second most used Assistant language globally after English.
The nine different languages in which Assistant can be summoned in India are: Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. For the uninitiated, the Assistant can help make phone calls, text, play music and videos, navigate and search the internet, and access other apps and services.
Last year when Google announced that Assistant is coming in Hindi, the company had said, “The Google Assistant is truly Indian, it’s your helpful dost that speaks our language and understands the things you care about, from finding biryani recipes, to pulling up the latest cricket score, or finding directions to the nearest ATM.”
