Telecom shares rise; Vindhya Telelinks surges 6%

NEW DELHI: Most telecom shares were trading in the positive zone in Friday’s afternoon session.

Shares of Vindhya Telelinks (up 6.24 per cent), GTPL Hathway (up 4.92 per cent), GTL (up 4.74 per cent) and OnMobile Global (up 2.52 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 1.87 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 1.84 per cent), Tata Communications (up 1.56 per cent) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 0.49 per cent) were trading in the green.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.28 per cent down at 958.90 around 11:54 am.
