Telecom preview: Q2 customer churn: Vodafone Idea’s loss means gain for Jio, Airtel
Mumbai: Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel will have gained users in the second quarter while Vodafone Idea’s customer churn woes persist. The cash-strapped telco is expected to report that as many 4.5 million customers left its network in the September quarter due mainly to liquidity struggles that have prevented it from investing in the network.
While Bharti Airtel’s average revenue per user (ARPU) is expected to continue showing strong growth sequentially at Rs 204, its consolidated performance is expected to be slow due to stress on the Africa business due to the depreciation of the Nigerian naira, which the management had cited in its first-quarter earnings call.
