Telecom Manufacturing

Trai has sent its recommendations on telecom equipment manufacturing to the DoT suggesting that India should aim for the net zero import by 2022. It suggested that a dedicated unit should be made in DoT for facilitation and monitoring of telecom equipment design, development and manufacturing. It has suggested Rs 1,000 crore corpus under Telecom Research and Development Fund (TRDF) to promote the research, innovation, standardization, design, testing, certification and manufacturing of indigenous telecom equipment.
