Telecom firms seek Modi government’s help to unlock Rs 1,400 crores

NEW DELHI: The homegrown telecom firms such as Sterlite TechnologiesNSE -0.60 %, Tejas Networks, Vihaan Networks Limited (VNL) and Birla Cables have asked the government to unlock Rs 1,400 crores it owes, to maintain cash flows and further run connectivity programs.

In a letter to the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) administrator, Ansuli Arya, dated May 1, 2019, seen by ET, the Telecom Export Promotion Council (Tepc) that represents local telecom gear firms, has sought the department to release Rs 1,432.74 crore.
