Telecom Diary: Vodafone Idea woes, Airtel’s bold move to hike tariffs & Jio’s stellar results
Vodafone Idea fate seems to be hanging by a thread. The third largest telecom player was expecting a breather from the Supreme Court on its modification plea on Adjusted Gross Revenues (AGR) for recalculations. But, SC rejected all pleas giving a big blow to the company which is reeling under a debt of 1.8 lakh crore and a meagre cash balance of Rs 350 crore.
Vodafone Idea’s AGR dues are to the tune of Rs 58,400 crore, as per government’s calculations and given a relief, would have come down to almost half. Till now, Vi has paid Rs 7854 crore while the balance has to be paid in 10 installments through March 31, 2031.
