Telecom Diary: Can 5G captive network business boost telcos revenues?

Telecom service providers, stressed with low average revenue per user, have received a much needed shot in the arm with the telecom department refusing to allot spectrum to enterprises without auctions for setting up private networks.

Private 5G captive networks have the potential to turn around fortunes for the telecom industry. Telcos on an average generate around 25% revenue from their traditional enterprise business which is set to increase impressively once private networks deployment starts fully in the next few years. For the telecom industry, the enterprise market is estimated to be at Rs 75,000-Rs 90,000 crore and has doubled in the last few years.
