‘Telecast of assembly affairs not for viewing pleasure’

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday contended in the Madras high court that the proceedings of the state legislative assembly cannot be called into question by a court of law.

Advocate general R Shunmugasundaram made the submission while opposing pleas seeking live telecast of assembly proceedings. “It is the prerogative of the speaker to decide on which of the business of the assembly can be live telecast,” the AG said.
