Telcos working with DoT, infra firms to mitigate impact of Cyclone Tauktae
The three private telcos – Bharti Airtel NSE -0.51 %, Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio) and Vodafone Idea NSE 0.58 % (Vi) – are working with the telecom department, infrastructure providers (Ps) and local state authorities to mitigate the impact of cyclone Tauktae on telecom networks.
“We are taking every possible step to mitigate Cyclone Tauktae’s impact on the people in the states of Gujrat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa and Diu to ensure that the adverse impact of this cyclone is minimal and the disruption in telecommunications and internet services caused by the cyclone is restored at the earliest,’ said S P Kochhar, director general of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). Industry body COAI represents the three private telcos.
