Telcos deactivated 4 lakh headers, over 11 lakh content templates to stop pesky text messages: Devusinh Chauhan
Kolkata: Mobile operators have temporarily deactivated around 4 lakh headers and over 11 lakh content templates to comply with the telecom regulator’s earlier directive to stop unwanted promotional text messages and calls from unregistered telemarketers, Devusinh Chauhan, minister of state for communications, told Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
“Trai had issued a direction on 16 .02.2023 to prevent transmission of promotional messages through unregistered telemarketers, or telemarketers using 10-digit telephone numbers…in compliance with its direction, around 4 lakh headers and more than 11 lakh content templates have been temporarily deactivated by mobile companies,” Chauhan said in reply to a query in Parliament.
