Telco group seeks 6GHz frequency band for sustainable 5G, economy boost

NEW DELHI: The Cellular Operators Association of India reiterated that the Centre should identify the 6GHz spectrum band (5925-7125 MHz) for the commercial deployment of fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) network as well as 5.5G and 6G that could also facilitate societal benefits in line with the national target of $1 trillion digital economy.

In a letter to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) secretary K Rajaraman, dated April 7, 2023, COAI director general SP Kochhar said that the licensed 6 GHz is ideal for commercial success and deployment of 5G NR, 5.5G, and 6G in the future.
