Tech disproves narrative of large democracies being dysfunctional: Minister

MUMBAI: Technology has changed the narrative that large democracies tend to be dysfunctional, and that governance does not reach citizens, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, minister of state for electronics and technology. Addressing G20 delegates in Mumbai, Chandrasekar said that India will make available the technology behind the India Stack to the global south and nations seeking to rapidly digitise economies and government.

“India’s status as a digital powerhouse makes it an import voice in the discourse on all things digital. Today we are among the pre-eminent nations in deploying technology to further improve the lives of citizens across the country,” Chandrasekhar said. He said that it was the investments made in technology over the last several years that came to the aid of the country during the time of the Covid pandemic in enabling direct benefit transfers and vaccinations.
