TDSAT asks DoT, TRAI, BSNL to reach consensus on utilising spare capacity for virtual network

NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) officials will be convening a meeting on Wednesday to discuss utilising the latter’s spare infrastructure capacity for virtual network following the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (Tdsat) direction.

As per DoT letter 20-1338/2022-AS-I dated March 18, 2024 on the subject and reference to Hon’able Tdsat’s order in the matter that, “three heads – CMD of BSNL, Secretary – DoT, and Chairperson of Trai may have a common joint meeting either by themselves or by their representatives to find out via a media for utilisation of spare capacity of infrastructure of BSNL by Mobile Virtual Network Operator licensee,” a meeting has been scheduled on March 27, 2024 at Sanchar Bhawan, a notice by BSNL read.
