Tata SuperApp delayed again

Mumbai: The official launch of Tata Digital’s SuperApp — which had been slated for this month — has been delayed as the company awaits approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for its BigBasket buyout, which will be the group’s main gateway to the online consumer space.

The app was to be launched late last year, which was postponed to early this month to coincide with Tata group’s Founders Day on March 3. Tata group officials close to the development said the conglomerate was trying to tie up several loose ends.

Tata group had formally signed a $1.2 billion deal with BigBasket in early February 2021, acquiring 60-63% stake in the e-grocer. Tata had applied to the National Company Law Tribunal and CCI for the statutory and regulatory clearance immediately, a group official said.
