Tata Communications, ADC consortium build new submarine cable in Asia Pacific

NEW DELHI: Tata Communications, a member of the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) Consortium, Tuesday said the ADC is building a high-performance submarine cable that will connect China (Hong Kong SAR and Guangdong Province), Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The consortium has selected NEC Corporation for this project, to construct the 9,400-kilometer-long ADC cable. The project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2022.

With an aim to support high capacity data transmission across the East and Southeast Asian regions, the cable will feature multiple pairs of high-capacity optical fibres, which are designed to carry more than 140 Tbps of traffic.
