Taiwan’s GlobalWafers says Japan plants resume operations after earthquake shutdown

TAIPEI: Taiwan’s GlobalWafers Co Ltd said on Wednesday it had fully resumed production at its Japanese factories after suspending operations following a strong earthquake which hit Japan’s Noto peninsula on New Year’s Day.

In a statement to the Taipei stock exchange, the company said it had five factory locations in Japan, two of which are in Niigata, part of the quake affected zone.

GlobalWafers said it had suspended operations on Monday and Tuesday for inspections, but having found no damage work has now resumed.
