Swiggy delivery staffer’s death in mishap raises safety worries

A delivery partner of online food ordering platform Swiggy died in the wee hours of January 2 after his scooter collided with a car in Noida. Last month, a 27-year-old delivery executive at rival Zomato was also killed after his motorcycle was hit, allegedly by a speeding car in the same Delhi suburb.

The unfortunate incidents have put a spotlight on the hazards faced by gig workers, who toil for long hours, often without adequate compensation or insurance benefits.
