Sudan hackers target top hospitals in Hyderabad, slow down systems

HYDERABAD: ‘Anonymous Sudan’, a pro-Islamic hacktivist group that attacked Indian seaports and airports earlier, has targeted several top hospitals and healthcare institutes in Hyderabad and elsewhere in the country. These include some of the city’s top corporate and trust-run hospitals.

According to Radware, a US-based cyber security firm, Anonymous Sudan is a group of politically motivated hackers from Sudan conducting distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. In March 2023, the group targeted France’s hospitals, universities, and airports.

Experts said this is not hacking, but multiple users from several locations accessing the website simultaneously, leading to unprecedented traffic and eventually, denial of service to genuine users.
