Sticky situation: That ghost call from Truecaller maybe the right excuse to scoot
Bosses, watch out. A team member in a meeting suddenly gets a call from his or her mother, cites an emergency and leaves.
In reality, the call might not have been from the employee’s mother. The person could just have used what is being labelled a “ghost call”.
This is a new feature being piloted by caller identification app Truecaller, in which a user just needs to toggle with the handset to activate the new option catered to help subscribers escape sticky situations.
“Ghost call is for everyone who is stuck and seeking an escape from boring situations. It can be used to break an awkward silence or excuse yourself from an embarrassing situation. Or, even save yourself from creepy encounters with strangers,” Rishit Jhunjhunwala, managing director, India, at Truecaller, told ET over email.
