Stage, a regional OTT platform, gets Rs 3.5 crore in angel funding

Mumbai: Regional OTT platform Stage has raised Rs 3.5 crore in an angel funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures, its sixth investment so far this year. Paytm’s founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma also participated in the funding in his personal capacity, along with Sprout Investment Fund and Giridhar Malpani.

Stage will use the capital to introduce content in new dialects and build a content library.

Launched in 2020 by Vinay Singhal, Shashank Vaishnav and Parveen Singhal, Stage is a dialect-based over-the-top video-streaming platform with 1.5 million downloads in Haryanvi alone. The company, which is looking at starting its subscription services soon, aims to reach 500 million users in the next five years. The OTT has Rajasthani content too and plans to launch new content in Bhojpuri, Maithili and Magadhi this year.
