Spotify will now let you search for songs with lyrics

After closing the gap on Apple Music in terms of its catalogue size and user base, Spotify is taking the battle for new users to innovations in its app interface. A Spotify engineer tweeted today that the company has tweaked its search algorithm to let users input lyrics in the app’s search field for song results. Apple Music has offered this feature since 2018.

Songs that include the lyrics entered by users will have a “lyrics match” label that will show up alongside other possible results. This is particularly handy for users looking to discover new music from song fragments they may have heard in passing.
