Spotify set to get lossless audio support under a ‘super premium’ plan
It was in 2021 when Apple first introduced support for lossless audio on its Music streaming service. Now, a report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple Music’s biggest rival Spotify is set to introduce it later this year. According to the report, Spotify is mulling over the option of introducing a ‘superpremium’ subscription tier for its users.
What is lossless audio?
Lossless music is a type of file that has been encoded without any loss of data. This means that the original sound waves are perfectly preserved, resulting in a high-quality listening experience. Lossless music is typically encoded at a bitrate of 16-bit/44.1kHz, which is the same as the audio quality of a CD.
