Spectrum Auction

The Germany regulator has allocated spectrum through auction terming it as scarce resource, and this decision fetched them over 5,081 million Euro. The spectrum in 1800 MHz band was the most sought-after band commanding the highest premium. Compared to a reserve price of 37.50 million Euro per block of 2×5 MHz spectrum, it fetched between 180 million to 258 million Euro per block. The next highest price was for 900 MHz band, followed by 700 MHz band, and 1500 MHz band.

After the merger between Telefónica and E-Plus the numbers of operators in Germany have come down from four to three. All these three operators – Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co OHG, Telekom Deutschland GmbH, and Vodafone GmbH – were admitted to the auction.
