Some Twitter employees receive severance but they are not happy: Here’s why

Elon Musk fired thousands of employees when he took over the reins on Twitter after shelling out $44 billion. At that time, he said the employees will receive severance, however, last week multiple reports claimed that those workers are yet to receive any communication regarding the same. Latest reports are now claiming that some employees have got the severance but fall short of expectations.

According to federal laws in the state of California, Twitter is required to pay sacked employees regular paychecks after the termination for the last two months. This 60-day period ended on January 4, 2023. Elon Musk, at the time of firing employees, said that all the employees that were sacked were “offered 3 months of severance.”

Citing multiple sources familiar with the matter, Fortune reports that after delays this week, some former Twitter employees received their official severance agreements, however, the compensation is much less than what many expected.
