Some countries have treated smartphone as essential; expect a surge in handset demand: Poco
NEW DELHI: Chinese handset maker Poco, which has recently been spun off from Xiaomi as a separate entity, expects a surge in consumer demand for smartphones once sales are allowed in India, which is currently under a nationwide lockdown.
“For everything you need, you will have to do it through a smartphone. Smartphone is important. People who wanted to purchase have been not been able to since last month. There is definitely going to be a surge in demand once the lockdown is lifted,” Poco India General Manager, C Manmohan, told ET.
“Some countries have treated smartphones as essential…after daily groceries, smartphone is the second most important item,” he added.
