SoftBank Vision Fund’s Misra says evaluated investing in Jio Platforms, Reliance Retail: Report
NEW DELHI: The $100 billion SoftBank Vision Fund (SVF) evaluated investing in Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail but chose to opt-out as it believed the two companies may not live up to expectations, revaled CEO Rajeev Misra.
The revelation comes in the backdrop of investments in the two Mukesh Ambani-led companies by tech giants including Google, Facebook, Intel Inc., Qualcomm Ventures, among others, and sovereign wealth funds.
To date, Jio Platforms–that is present across verticals like telecom, digital payments, gaming, education, and others, has raised Rs 1.52 lakh crore and Reliance Retail has raised Rs 47,265 crore through investments throughout the lockdown period.
