Smartphone shipments to surpass 150 million units in 2020: Research firms

New Delhi: Market trackers have raised their outlook for 2020 smartphone shipments to 147-152 million, from the roughly 130-135 million estimated earlier, boosted by huge demand in the crucial festive season, which has offset the impact of global component shortage and other manufacturing constraints.

They expect the smartphone market to witness double-digit growth in shipments in 2021 as 5G phones fall below Rs 15,000 category and featurephone users migrate to affordable 4G smartphones lined up for launch next year.
