Smartphone shipments to decline 6.5% to 1.27 bn units in 2022 amid inflation, softer demand: IDC

NEW DELHI: Global smartphone shipments will decline 6.5% to 1.27 billion units in 2022 on account of record-breaking inflation, geopolitical tensions, and other macroeconomic conditions that have softened consumer demand, the International Data Corporation (IDC) said in its revised forecast, a reduction of three percentage points from previous projections.
