Single data breach now costs nearly Rs 17.5 cr in India: Study

New Delhi: The estimated average cost of a data breach in India went up to an all-time high of Rs 17.5 crore in 2022 — a 6.6 per cent increase from last year, a new study showed on Wednesday.

The average cost has climbed 25 per cent from Rs 1.4 crore in 2020.

Moreover, India’s average per record cost of a data breach in 2022 reached Rs 6,100, a 3.3 per cent increase from Rs 5,900 in 2021, according to the ‘Cost of Data Breach Report 2022’ by tech major IBM.
