Sify enables local payments systems for Skype

Sify Technologies that provides managed enterprise, network and applications services Wednesday enabled local payment methods to simplify users’ experience for those purchasing Skype credit or subscriptions to make calls to mobile and landline numbers outside India.

Now Skype users can make international calls using Indian debit or credit cards and through Net banking, the company said in a statement Wednesday

Skype offers competitive calling rates while calling abroad from India.

“With increased globalization, Indian consumers must be able to collaborate with anyone, anywhere and anytime,” Kamal Nath, Chief Executive Officer, Sify Technologies said.

Sify, he said, is making it easier for Indian Skype users to collaborate with almost 7 billion mobile and landline users across the world.

“India is a key market for Skype and we want to help our users in India connect with friends and family abroad, Together with Sify, we are making it easier for Skype users in India to purchase Skype credit and subscriptions,” Head of Emerging Market Business Development at Skype Judd Harcombe said.
