Share market update: Telecom shares rise; RCom jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading in the positive zone in Friday’s morning session.

Shares of Optiemus Infracom (up 4.92 per cent) , Reliance Communications (up 4.6 per cent) , GTPL Hathway (up 2.83 per cent) , Sterlite Technologies (up 1.78 per cent) , Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 1.05 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (up 0.93 per cent) , HFCL Ltd (up 0.86 per cent) , OnMobile Global (up 0.82 per cent) and Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.49 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.79 per cent up at 1109.4 around 11:09 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 74.95 points at 12201.5 , while the BSE Sensex was up 249.51 points at 41413.27 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.
