Share market update: Telecom shares rise; MTNL jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading in the positive zone in Friday’s morning session.

Shares of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) (up 4.98 per cent) , Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 3.45 per cent) , Vindhya Telelinks (up 2.94 per cent) , GTL Infrastructure (up 2.56 per cent) , Tejas Network (up 1.35 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (up 0.97 per cent) , GTPL Hathway (up 0.76 per cent) and Optiemus Infracom (up 0.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 1.29 per cent up at 1117.63 around 11:08 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 19.35 points at 12279.05 , while the BSE Sensex was up 48.53 points at 41722.45 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.
