SC issues notice to Centre on pleas against move to take down links to BBC documentary on PM Modi
The Supreme Court Friday issued notice to the Centre on petitions challenging actions taken by the latter in response to a BBC documentary titled ‘India: The Modi Question’. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and M M Sundresh asked the government to produce all relevant records and fixed the matter for hearing in April.
Senior Advocate C U Singh, appearing for petitioners journalist N Ram, advocate Prashant Bhushan and Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, urged the court to fix it on an earlier date but the bench said April is the shortest date available.
Stating this, Justice Khanna remarked, “It is also a fact that people have been accessing those videos”.
