SC call for ‘reasonable’ payment plans boosts Vodafone Idea survival chances: Analysts

Kolkata: The Supreme Court’s call for telcos to submit reasonable payment plans instead of personal guarantees to qualify for staggered repayment of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues offers some respite for Vodafone Idea (VIL) and raises hopes around its visibility, say analysts, who, however, said the struggling telco could face some short-term hiccups depending on the size of the initial upfront payment.

The nation’s top court on Thursday sought reasonable payment plans, including securities and collaterals that can cover any default in payments, from telecom companies which owe over Rs 1.7 lakh-crore by way of AGR dues and sought financial statements of those companies that expressed their inability to provide any guarantees due to a financial crunch.
