Saudi Arabia to mandate USB-C charging for all electronic devices

Saudi Arabia will start adopting USB Type-C as the charging port for all mobile phones and other electronic gadgets starting in 2025. According to a report by Gulf News, this move comes as a part of a broader initiative to improve the user experience and ensure high-quality charging as well as data transfer technology. The report notes that this move will also boost environmental sustainability by reducing electronic waste.

Saudi Arabia USB-C mandate: Timeline

This mandate will be enforced in two phases. The first phase which will commence on January 1, 2025, will account for devices like mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, e-readers, portable video game devices, headphones, earphones, amplifiers, keyboards, computer mice, portable navigation systems,
