Satellite industry urges DoT to administratively allocate spectrum
NEW DELHI: The satellite industry has urged the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to administratively allocate spectrum in line with global practices.
The satellite companies reasoned that satellite spectrum auction has never happened in India. The industry is also of the opinion that a conducive policy is required for sector, comprising international best practices, to ensure growth, according to a statement from the SIA-India on Friday.
ET in its September 17 edition has reported that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has commenced meetings with telecom companies, satellite players, and telecom department officials to seek views on satellite spectrum and the allocation methodology for these airwaves.
