Satcom Policy

The government is considering to open up the Space sector related to commercial telecommunication for private participation. It is also considering to hand over its regulations to Trai, from department of space (DoS). Its licensing is also being taken away from Antrix / ISRO to avoid conflict of interest in satellite operations for commercial communication purposes. The sectoral FDI cap of 74 per cent is also sought to be removed by permitting 100 per cent FDI. Presently, Satcom Policy 1997 is in operation
