Samsung open to launching an affordable 48MP camera phone in India: Dj Koh
The 48-megapixel rear camera seems to be the biggest smartphone trend of 2019. Most major Chinese brands like Oppo, Vivo, Honor and Xiaomi have jumped on the 48MP rear camera bandwagon. It’s, however, interesting that the world’s top smartphone brand Samsung is still to join the race, despite launching a 48MP ISOCELL Bright GM1 camera sensor last year.
When asked for a comment on whether Samsung would launch a 48MP camera phone in the Galaxy M or A series of phones in India, DJ Koh, president and CEO of IT and mobile communications division, said, “Yes, it is possible. But it (a 48MP camera phone from Samsung) depends on the demand from the Indian market.”
“When we can make innovations in pricing and quality, there is no reason to believe as to why we can’t make it (a Samsung 48MP camera phone),” Koh told reporters here.
