Samsung on track to reclaim No. 1 position from Xiaomi in India

NEW DELHI: With Samsung launching a range of new smartphones in the new Galaxy M and Galaxy A series, the company seems to be aggressively pushing itself to reclaim the top spot in the Indian market.
“They (Xiaomi) are number one in terms of shipment, but in terms of revenue, Samsung is dominant number one in Indian market not only in fourth quarter of last year but full 2018, Samsung was number one. But in terms of number of devices, I want to bring back my position in volume terms,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics on the sidelines of the Galaxy S10 launch here.
At the Galaxy Note 9 launch last year in August, Koh had announced a new strategy for the competitive India market with a renewed focus on mid-range segment. Koh said that the strategy to bring “new meaningful innovations” to the mid-range market has worked and is confident that Samsung would reclaim the top spot in India soon.
